Sukta 10.171
Indra
अयं लघुरिन्द्रसूक्तः पुनःपुनरिन्द्रं स्तौति—यः स्थगितं गूढं वा अग्रे नयति, रथं मनोऽभिप्रायं च, सूर्यमपि प्रकाशयति। कविरिन्द्रं प्रशंसति यत् स सोमयजमानस्याह्वानं शृणोति, मर्त्यं बन्धननिगडैः प्रमुञ्चति, च सीमितशक्तिभ्यः परं ज्योतिः प्रसरयति।
Mantra 1
त्वं त्यमिटतो रथमिन्द्र प्रावः सुतावतः । अशृणोः सोमिनो हवम् ॥
त्वम् इन्द्र सुतावतः तं तीव्रगामिनं रथं प्रावः प्राचोदयः; सोमिनो हवं त्वमशृणोः।
Mantra 2
त्वं मखस्य दोधतः शिरोऽव त्वचो भरः । अगच्छः सोमिनो गृहम् ॥
त्वं मखस्य शिरोऽभरः, त्वचोऽव आवरणं दोधतः; अगच्छः सोमिनो गृहम्।
Mantra 3
त्वं त्यमिन्द्र मर्त्यमास्त्रबुध्नाय वेन्यम् । मुहुः श्रथ्ना मनस्यवे ॥
त्वम् इन्द्र तं मर्त्यं यः अस्त्रबुध्नाय प्रबोधनीयः, मनस्यवे वेन्यः, मुहुः मुहुः श्रथ्नाः—तस्य बन्धान् विमोचयः, यथा स सत्यसङ्कल्पे प्रतिष्ठेत।
Mantra 4
त्वं त्यमिन्द्र सूर्यं पश्चा सन्तं पुरस्कृधि । देवानां चित्तिरो वशम् ॥
त्वम् इन्द्र पृष्ठतः स्थितं तं सूर्यं पुरस्कृधि; देवानामपि वशं चित्तिरो अतिक्रम्य, ज्योतिरस्माकं दर्शने अग्रे नय।
It praises Indra for advancing what is stuck—protecting the sacrificer’s progress, freeing a person from constraints, and bringing hidden light (like the Sun) into the lead.
