Sukta 7.86
न स स्वो दक्षो वरुण ध्रुतिः सा सुरा मन्युर्विभीदको अचित्तिः । अस्ति ज्यायान्कनीयस उपारे स्वप्नश्चनेदनृतस्य प्रयोता ॥
ná sá svó dákṣo váruṇa dhrutíḥ sā́ surā́ mányur vibhī́dako ácittiḥ | ásti jyā́yān kánīyasa upāré svápnaś canéd anṛ́tasya prayotā́ ||
ഹേ വരുണ, ഇത് സത്യത്തിൽ എന്റെ സ്വന്തം ദക്ഷത (സുവിവേകം) അല്ല; സ്ഥിരധൃതി (ധാരണം)യും അല്ല; ഇത് മദം (മത്തത), ഭയത്തിലേക്ക് തള്ളുന്ന മന്യു (കോപം), അചിത്തി (അജ്ഞാനം) തന്നെയാണ്. മുതിർന്നവനും ചെറുപ്പവന്റെ നിലയിലേക്ക് വഴുതിപ്പോകാം; നിദ്ര പോലും അനൃത (അസത്യം) പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതാകാം—നമ്മിൽ ഇച്ഛയെ ഋത/ധർമ്മത്തിൽ നിന്ന് മാറിച്ചായിക്കുന്ന ശക്തികൾ ഉണ്ട്.
