Sukta 2.1
त्वमग्ने रुद्रो असुरो महो दिवस्त्वं शर्धो मारुतं पृक्ष ईशिषे । त्वं वातैररुणैर्यासि शंगयस्त्वं पूषा विधतः पासि नु त्मना ॥
tvám agne rudró ásuro mahó divás tváṃ śárdho mārutáṃ pṛkṣá īśiṣe | tváṃ vātáir aruṇáir yāsi śaṃgayás tváṃ pūṣā́ vidhatáḥ pāsi nú tmanā́ ||
ഹേ അഗ്നേ, നീ രുദ്രൻ—മഹത്തായ ദിവ്യാകാശത്തിന്റെ അസുരൻ, അധിപൻ. നീ മാരുത-ശർധ (മരുതുകളുടെ ദളം) ഭരിക്കുന്നു, വർദ്ധനയിൽ ബലവാൻ. നീ അരുൺ (ചുവപ്പുനിറമുള്ള) വാതങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു, ശംഗയ—ശാന്തി/ക്ഷേമം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നവൻ. നീ പൂഷാ; വിധാത (കർമ്മം ക്രമപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന യജമാനൻ)നെ നീ നിന്റെ സ്വന്തം ആത്മബലത്തോടെ കാക്കുന്നു.
