स ईं मृगो अप्यो वनर्गुरुप त्वच्युपमस्यां नि धायि । व्यब्रवीद्वयुना मर्त्येभ्योऽग्निर्विद्वाँ ऋतचिद्धि सत्यः ॥
sá ī́ṃ mṛgó apyó vanargúr úpa tváci upa-masyā́ṃ ní dhāyi | vy àbravīd vayúnā mártyebhyo 'gnír vidvā́ṃ ṛtá-cid hí satyáḥ ||
അവൻ തന്നെയാണ് ജലങ്ങളിൽ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്ന മൃഗം, വനത്തിൽ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നവൻ; ഏറ്റവും അടുത്ത ആവരണത്തിൽ ഉപരിതലത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. പിന്നെ അഗ്നി—വിദ്വാൻ—മർത്ത്യർക്കു രഹസ്യ പ്രവർത്തനക്രമങ്ങൾ (വയുനാ) പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു; കാരണം അവൻ ഋതത്തിന്റെ നിയമത്തിലുപോലും സത്യൻ തന്നെയാണ്.
