Sukta 1.124
अभ्रातेव पुंस एति प्रतीची गर्तारुगिव सनये धनानाम् । जायेव पत्य उशती सुवासा उषा हस्रेव नि रिणीते अप्सः ॥
abhrā́teva puṃsá eti pratī́cī gartā́ruk iva sanáye dhánānām | jāyéva pátya uśatī́ su-vā́sā uṣā́ hasrā́iva ní riṇīte ápsaḥ ||
സഹോദരനില്ലാത്തവളെപ്പോലെ അവൾ പുരുഷനിലേക്കു പ്രതീചിയായി വരുന്നു; കുഴിയിൽ നിന്നു കയറുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ അവൾ ധനങ്ങളുടെ വിജയം (സനയ) കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു. ഭർത്താവിനെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന, മനോഹരവസ്ത്രധാരിണിയായ ഭാര്യയെപ്പോലെ—ഉഷസ് പുഞ്ചിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ജലങ്ങളെ തെളിയിക്കുന്നു; യാത്രയ്ക്കായി ജീവധാരകളെ വിടുതൽ ചെയ്യുന്നു.
