ഈ സംക്ഷിപ്ത പതി-ലാഭ സൂക്തം, സാമൂഹികമായി അംഗീകൃത ബന്ധങ്ങളുടെ രക്ഷകനായ ആര്യമനോട്, ഒരു കന്യയ്ക്ക് യോജ്യനായ ഭർത്താവിനെ എത്തിച്ചു കൊടുക്കാനും അവളെ ഫലപ്രദമായ ഭാര്യത്വത്തിലേക്ക് സുരക്ഷിതമായി മാറ്റിനിർത്താനും അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. വിവാഹതിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിന്റെ മത്സരഭരിതമായ വേദി ("പൊതു സംഗമം") ഇത് അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും, എതിരാളികളിൽ മേൽ ദൈവിക അനുകൂല്യം ലഭിക്കണമെന്നു തേടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അവസാന മന്ത്രം ധാതൃവിന്റെ വിശ്വക്രമനിർണ്ണയശക്തിയിൽ ഈ അപേക്ഷയെ ആധാരപ്പെടുത്തി, ശരിയായി പൊരുത്തപ്പെട്ട വിവാഹം ഋത (സ്ഥിരക്രമം)യുടെ ഭാഗമാണെന്നും അതിലൂടെ സന്താനവും സമൃദ്ധിയും ലഭിക്കുമെന്നുമാണ് സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

पतिलाभः। अ॒यमा या॑त्यर्य॒मा पु॒रस्ता॒द् विषि॑तस्तुपः । अ॒स्या इ॒चछन्न॒ग्रुवै॒ पति॑मु॒त जा॒याम॒जान॑ये
ഇവിടെ മുന്നിൽ ആര്യമൻ വരുന്നു—സ്തുതി ക്രമമായി ഒരുക്കി. ഈ കന്യയ്ക്കായി ഭർത്താവിനെ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച്, ഭാര്യത്വവും—സന്താനോത്പാദനത്തിനായി—നൽകുവാൻ.

अश्र॑मदि॒यम॑र्यमन्न॒न्यासां॒ सम॑नं य॒ती। अ॒ङ्गो न्वऽर्यमन्न॒स्या अ॒न्याः सम॑न॒माय॑ति
ഓ ആര്യമൻ, ഈ കന്യ മറ്റുള്ള സ്ത്രീകളുടെ പൊതുസംഗമത്തിലേക്ക് നീങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതെ, ഇപ്പോൾ ഓ ആര്യമൻ, അവൾക്കായി മറ്റു സ്ത്രീകളും ആ സംഗമത്തിലേക്ക് വരുന്നു (മത്സരിണികളായി).

धा॒ता दा॑धार पृथि॒वीं धा॒ता द्यामु॒त सूर्य॑म्। धा॒तास्या अ॒ग्रुवै॒ पतिं॒ दधा॑तु प्रतिका॒म्यऽम्
ധാതാവ് ഭൂമിയെ ദൃഢമായി ധരിച്ചു; ധാതാവ് ദ്യൗ (ആകാശം)യും സൂര്യനെയും സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. അതേ ധാതാവ് ഈ കന്യയ്ക്കു ആഗ്രഹാനുസൃതമായ (പ്രതികാമ്യ) ഭർത്താവിനെ നിയോഗിക്കട്ടെ/സ്ഥാപിക്കട്ടെ.
