प्रा॒चीनं॑ ब॒र्हिः प्र॒दिशा॑ पृथि॒व्या वस्तो॑र॒स्या वृ॑ज्यते॒ अग्रे॒ अह्ना॑म्। व्युऽप्रथते वित॒रं वरी॑यो दे॒वेभ्यो॒ अदि॑तये स्यो॒नम्

IAST Transliteration

prācī́naṃ bárhiḥ pradíśā pṛthivyā́ vastór asyā́ vṛjyate ágre ahnā́m | vy ù prathate vitaráṃ várīyo devébhyo áditaye syónam

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

Eastward the sacred grass is strewn, in the earth’s fore-direction, in this our dwelling, at the days’ beginning. It spreads forth wider, more spacious— a kindly couch for the gods, for Aditi.

Translation

കിഴക്കോട്ടു പവിത്രമായ ബർഹി (കുശപ്പുല്ല്) വിരിക്കുന്നു—ഭൂമിയുടെ കിഴക്കുമുഖ പ്രദേശത്ത്, നമ്മുടെ ഈ വാസസ്ഥാനത്ത്, ദിവസങ്ങളുടെ ആരംഭത്തിൽ. അത് കൂടുതൽ വിശാലമായി, കൂടുതൽ വ്യാപകമായി പരക്കുന്നു—ദേവന്മാർക്കും അദിതിക്കും, സുഖകരമായ ശയനമായി, ശുഭമായ ഇരിപ്പിടമായി.
