Sukta 40
ये॒३धस्ता॒ज्जुह्व॑ति जातवेदो ध्रु॒वाया॑ दि॒शोऽभिदास॑न्त्य॒स्मान्। भूमि॑मृ॒त्वा ते परा॑ञ्चो व्यथन्तां प्र॒त्यगे॑नान् प्रतिस॒रेण॑ हन्मि
yé adhástāj juhváti jātávedo dhrúvāyā diśó ’bhidā́santy asmā́n | bhū́mim ṛtvā́ té parā́ñco vyathantāṃ pratyagé́nān pratisaréṇa hanmi
Whoso from beneath maketh offering, O Jātavedas,—the steadfast regions assail us: taking Earth for the effective stay, let them, turned away, be shaken; with the returning counter-force, with the Pratisara, I smite them down.
ഹേ ജാതവേദസ്! താഴെ നിന്ന് ഹോമം ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ—ധ്രുവ (അചല) ദിക്കുകൾ ഞങ്ങളെ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നു. ഭൂമിയെ ഫലപ്രദമായ ആശ്രയം (ഋത്വാ) ആക്കി, അവർ പിൻതിരിഞ്ഞ് വിറയ്ക്കട്ടെ. പ്രത്യഗ് എന്ന തിരിച്ചുവരുന്ന പ്രതിബലത്താൽ, പ്രതിസര (രക്ഷാസൂത്രം/തായത്ത്) കൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ അവരെ അടിച്ചുതാഴ്ത്തുന്നു.
