Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (specific anukramaṇī attribution not supplied in input)
Devata: Sāṃmanasya (Concord) with Varuṇa, Soma, Agni, Bṛhaspati, Vasus as invoked agents
Chandas: Mixed/Anuṣṭubh-like (prose-like refrain ‘sāṃmanasyam’ plus metrical pādas)
Mantra 1
Mantra 2
Mantra 3
It is used to create unanimity and cooperation—especially among family members, clan groups, or an assembly—so they gather around a shared leader/center and do not split into factions.
The hymn frames the offering as a real binding operation: the reciter ‘stitches together’ the group’s inner impulses and intentions through havis and ghee, turning heated impulses into shared harmony.
Pūṣan removes the ‘wrong path’ (apapatha)—error, wandering, or harmful influence—while Vāstoṣpati, lord of the dwelling, keeps calling the group back so they remain anchored to the household/center.
