Soma
This hymn praises Soma as an unconquered, all-winning power who breaks open what is shut and makes the poet-seer luminous through inspired vision. It presents Soma as the fulfiller of true aims—leading seekers to the giver’s gift and turning restless thirst into satisfaction. It culminates in a royal petition to Soma, enthroned among the gods, to look down upon crooked thoughts and drive away hostile and obstructing forces.

Mantra 1
अयं कृत्नुरगृभीतो विश्वजिदुद्भिदित्सोमः । ऋषिर्विप्रः काव्येन ॥
यह सोम जो है, वो अपना काम पूरा करता है। कोई उसे पकड़ नहीं सकता। वो सारी दुनिया जीतता है और जो बंद है उसे खोलता है। रिशि लोग इसकी वजह से ज्ञानी बन जाते हैं और अंदर से चमकने लगते हैं।

अभ्यूर्णोति यन्नग्नं भिषक्ति विश्वं यत्तुरम् । प्रेमन्धः ख्यन्निः श्रोणो भूत् ॥
यह जो भी नंगा है उसको ढाँक देता है और इलाज करता है। जो ज़ख्मी है उसको ठीक करता है और जो तेज़ है उसको आगे बढ़ाता है। अंधेरा साफ दिखने लगता है और फिर निकल जाता है। लंगड़ा भी चल पड़ता है और ठीक हो जाता है।

त्वं सोम तनूकृद्भ्यो द्वेषोभ्योऽन्यकृतेभ्यः । उरु यन्तासि वरूथम् ॥
हे सोम, तू उन लोगों के लिए बड़ा सुरक्षा कवच है जो अपनी आत्मा को बनाते हैं। तू उन दुश्मनों से बचाता है जो नफ़रत फैलाते हैं और जो दूसरों को नुक़सान पहुँचाते हैं। तू उन सब से मुक्ति दिलाता है।

त्वं चित्ती तव दक्षैर्दिव आ पृथिव्या ऋजीषिन् । यावीरघस्य चिद्द्वेषः ॥
तू अपनी शक्ति से सब कुछ समझता है, आसमान से लेकर ज़मीन तक। तू वो भी भगाता है जो पाप और झूठ से पैदा होता है। तू नफ़रत को दूर कर देता है चाहे वो कहाँ से भी आए।

अर्थिनो यन्ति चेदर्थं गच्छानिद्ददुषो रातिम् । ववृज्युस्तृष्यतः कामम् ॥
जो लोग कुछ माँगने निकलते हैं वो उसे मिल जाते हैं जो देने वाला देता है। उनकी प्यास मिट जाती है और उनका दिल भर जाता है। जो चाहिए था वो उनको मिल गया।

विदद्यत्पूर्व्यं नष्टमुदीमृतायुमीरयत् । प्रेमायुस्तारीदतीर्णम् ॥
जब वो वो चीज़ ढूँढ लेता है जो पहले से खो गई थी, वो उस आत्मा को उठा लेता है जो सच के साथ चलती है। वो ज़िन्दगी को आगे ले जाता है और उसे पार करवा देता है जहाँ से कोई पार नहीं कर पाया था।

सुशेवो नो मृळयाकुरदृप्तक्रतुरवातः । भवा नः सोम शं हृदे ॥
हे सोम, हम पे अपनी कृपा रखो। तुम्हारा मन हमेशा शांत रहे, हमारे काम आओ। हमें दिल में शांति और सुख दो।

मा नः सोम सं वीविजो मा वि बीभिषथा राजन् । मा नो हार्दि त्विषा वधीः ॥
सोम, तुम हमारे अंदर राजा हो। हमें इतना मत दबाओ कि हम डर जाएँ। अपनी ताकत से हमारे दिल को मत मारो।

अव यत्स्वे सधस्थे देवानां दुर्मतीरीक्षे । राजन्नप द्विषः सेध मीढ्वो अप स्रिधः सेध ॥
जब तुम देवियों के बीच अपनी जगह पर बैठो, तो नीचे बुरी सोचों को देखते हो। राजा बनके दुश्मन ताकतों को भगाओ। जो लोग हमारे अंदर रुकावट डालते हैं, उन्हे दूर करो।
