Sukta 73

Mantra 1

उदीराथामृतायते युञ्जाथामश्विना रथम् । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Rise forth for the seeker of the Truth; yoke your chariot, O Aśvins. Near at hand may your help become seated within us.

Mantra 2

निमिषश्चिज्जवीयसा रथेना यातमश्विना । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Even quicker than a blink, come on your most rapid chariot, O Aśvins; near at hand may your help take its seat within us.

Mantra 3

उप स्तृणीतमत्रये हिमेन घर्ममश्विना । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Spread out for Atri the warm ghr̥ma with the coolness—O Aśvins; near at hand may your help be established within us.

Mantra 4

कुह स्थः कुह जग्मथुः कुह श्येनेव पेतथुः । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Where are you? From where have you come? Where have you flown like a falcon? Near at hand may your help be seated within us.

Mantra 5

यदद्य कर्हि कर्हि चिच्छुश्रूयातमिमं हवम् । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Whenever—today, at any time at all—may you hear this call, O Aśvins; near at hand may your help be established within us.

Mantra 6

अश्विना यामहूतमा नेदिष्ठं याम्याप्यम् । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

O Aśvins, most invoked on the journey, I go toward your nearest, intimate reach; near at hand may your help be established within us.

Mantra 7

अवन्तमत्रये गृहं कृणुतं युवमश्विना । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Make for Atri a home that is protected, O you two Aśvins; near at hand may your help be established within us.

Mantra 8

वरेथे अग्निमातपो वदते वल्ग्वत्रये । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Choose the Fire: the heat speaks a fair word for Atri; near at hand may your help be established within us.

Mantra 9

प्र सप्तवध्रिराशसा धारामग्नेरशायत । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Forward the seven-fold held (power) lays itself down, by aspiration, as a streaming current of Agni; may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 10

इहा गतं वृषण्वसू शृणुतं म इमं हवम् । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Come here, you two rich in victorious force; hear this my call: may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 11

किमिदं वां पुराणवज्जरतोरिव शस्यते । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

What is this that is spoken of you as if it were ancient, like an old tale? May your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 12

समानं वां सजात्यं समानो बन्धुरश्विना । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

One is your kindred nature, one your common bond, O Aśvins; may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 13

यो वां रजांस्यश्विना रथो वियाति रोदसी । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Your chariot, O Aśvins, that moves through the wide spaces and ranges over the two worlds—may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 14

आ नो गव्येभिरश्व्यैः सहस्रैरुप गच्छतम् । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Come to us near with your thousandfold riches of luminous herds and swift powers; may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 15

मा नो गव्येभिरश्व्यैः सहस्रेभिरति ख्यतम् । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Do not pass beyond us, famed ones, with your thousandfold lights and swift energies; may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 16

अरुणप्सुरुषा अभूदकर्ज्योतिॠतावरी । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Dawn became a red-flashing brilliance and made the light, she who moves in the law of Truth; may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 17

अश्विना सु विचाकशद्वृक्षं परशुमाँ इव । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

O Aśvins, may it shine out clearly—like a tree (made manifest) by an axe-bearer; may your help be near and truly present.

Mantra 18

पुरं न धृष्णवा रुज कृष्णया बाधितो विशा । अन्ति षद्भूतु वामवः ॥

Break through, like a strong one breaking a fortress, the being oppressed by the Blackness in the many peoples (of the nature); may your help be near and truly present.
