กาณฑะที่ 9 เป็นภาคที่กระชับแต่หนักแน่นทางความคิดของอถรรพเวท ซึ่งมุ่งหมายให้พิธีกรรมในเรือน (ความมั่งคั่ง ทรัพย์คือโค การคุ้มครอง สุขภาพ) ตั้งมั่นอยู่บนหลักจักรวาล เช่น ฤตะ (ระเบียบอันเที่ยงธรรม) และกาละ (กาลเวลา) บทสวดต่าง ๆ ก้าวพ้นการร่ายมนตร์เพื่อผลเฉพาะหน้าไปสู่จักรวาลวิทยาเชิงใคร่ครวญ โดยเด่นที่สุดคือบทสวดโรหิตะ (สุริยะแดง) ที่ตีความพลังสุริยะเป็นแรงค้ำจุนและจัดระเบียบโลกควบคุมพื้นที่และเวลา ควบคู่กับแนวคิดเชิงปรัชญานี้ ยังมีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับโสมและประสิทธิผลของยัญพิธี เชื่อมทัศนะภายในและวาจาอันดลใจเข้ากับการบูชาที่จัดวางอย่างถูกต้อง เพื่อให้ความรุ่งเรืองและความคุ้มครองดำรงมั่นคง มิใช่เพียงได้มาเพียงชั่วครู่
