While she (Kausalya) was in that state of meditation, Rama approached her, offered reverential salutation and said these words of praise enhancing her joy:
Joy is made dharmic through humility: approach elders with reverence, then speak to uplift and reassure.
Practical bhakti expressed as reverence to mother/elders; cultivates humility as a daily sādhana.
Humility before the source of one’s embodiment (mother) mirrors humility before the source of all (Brahman/Īśvara); right speech (satya-hita) purifies relationships.
Taittirīya’s ethic of honoring mother (mātṛdevo bhava) resonates as lived dharma.
Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa 2.4.35+ (Rāma’s ensuing speech contextually); Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa 1.20 (Rāma’s general vinaya and obedience)
Taittirīya Upaniṣad 1.11 (mātṛdevo bhava); Dharmaśāstra ideals of abhivādana to elders
Ayodhyākāṇḍa: repeated motif of Rāma’s respectful salutations to elders before pivotal turns
Anuṣṭup (śloka)
