smṛtir dhṛtiś ca dharmaś ca pātu tvāṃ putra sarvataḥ || 2.25.10 ||
स्मृतिर्धृतिश्च धर्मश्च हे पुत्र, त्वां सर्वतः पातु।
O my son! may Smriti, Dhriti and Dharma always guard you. May divine personages and gods, Skanda, Soma, Brihaspati, the seven rishis and Narada protect you at all times!
Dharma is presented as a protective power when joined with smṛti (clear moral memory) and dhṛti (steadfast resolve): right action is sustained by right remembrance and inner firmness.
As Rāma is about to leave Ayodhyā for forest-exile, he is addressed with protective benedictions for the hardships ahead.
Rāma’s dhṛti—calm endurance and unwavering commitment to duty and truth—supported by conscious remembrance of dharma.
