एष एकऋचोऽयं सूक्तः इन्द्रं प्रार्थयते यत् सः स्वस्त्ययनं दद्यात्—मङ्गलं विघ्नरहितं च गमनमार्गम्—यथा यात्रिकः इन्द्रस्यैव दिवोऽवतरणमार्गैः सह समन्वितो भवेत्, ये मार्गाः जगत् प्रवर्तयन्ति। तान् दिव्यान् पथः रक्षात्मक-प्रतिमानरूपेण आह्वयित्वा, मन्त्रोऽयं कार्यसिद्ध्यर्थं पौष्टिक-तन्त्रवत् च, यात्राकाले विपद्-विलम्ब-शत्रुबलादीनां निवारणाय अपोत्प्रैविक-रक्षणरूपेण च प्रवर्तते।
