एषः त्रिचः अथर्वणीयः सूक्तः राष्ट्रपौष्टिकं च रक्षोघ्नम् अपोत्प्रैतिकं च सामर्थ्यं संयोजयति। अत्र जातवेदाः अग्निः प्रतिस्पर्धिनः प्रतिद्वन्द्विनो वा निरपाकर्तुं, विश्वेषां देवानाम् अनुमत्या राज्यं ध्रुवीकर्तुं च प्रेर्यते। ततः सूक्तं ‘सीलन’-विधिं प्रति प्रवर्तते—अश्मानम् अपिधानरूपेण (आवरण-स्तम्भनार्थम्) उपयुज्य हानिकर-निर्गमान् मुखान्य् अपिधातुं, यद् वा प्राणरसादि-क्षय-निरोधरूपेण, यद् वा प्रजनन-नियन्त्रणरूपेण व्याख्येयम्। अस्य सूक्तस्य प्रभावः सार्वजनिक-व्यवस्थायाः (शत्रु-निष्कासनम्) देह-मैथुन-निग्रहस्य (द्वार-निरोधः) च एकेनैव तर्केण—बलात् बहिष्करणेन सुरक्षित-आवरणेन च—योजनायां निहितः।

सपत्नीनाशनम्। प्रान्यान्त्स॒पत्ना॒न्त्सह॑सा॒ सह॑स्व॒ प्रत्यजा॑तान् जातवेदो नुदस्व । इ॒दं रा॒ष्ट्रं पि॑पृ॒हि सौभ॑गाय॒ विश्व॑ एन॒मनु॑ मदन्तु दे॒वाः
सपत्नीनाशनम्। प्रान्यान् सपत्नान् सहसा सहस्व; प्रत्यजातान् जातवेदो नुदस्व। इदं राष्ट्रं पिपृहि सौभगाय; विश्वे एनम् अनु मदन्तु देवाः।

परं योनेः अवरं ते कृणोमि; मा त्वा प्रजाभिः भून्, न उत सूनुः। अस्वं त्वा अप्रजसं कृणोमि; अश्मानं ते अपिधानं कृणोमि।
