dīrghikāṁ mokṣate kāntāṁ śītodāṁ śītakānanām | sarvakāmān sa labhate bhaginī sā yamasya tu ||
Varāha (default, instructor voice in Varāha Purāṇa dialogues)
It shows the Purāṇic technique of contrast: a scene of comfort embedded in a punitive journey, intensifying the didactic effect.
The ‘dīrghikā’ is a mythic feature within the narrative; it is not presented as a historical tirtha or identifiable earthly reservoir.
Apparent relief can be transient within the moral economy described; the verse cautions against mistaking temporary comfort for final release.
