पुत्रोऽहं वसुदेवस्य देवक्या गर्भसम्भवः॥ वासुदेव इति ख्यातः सर्वदानवसूदनः॥

ഞാൻ വസുദേവന്റെ പുത്രൻ, ദേവകിയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവൻ. ‘വാസുദേവൻ’ എന്ന പേരിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധൻ; സർവ്വ ദാനവസേനകളെയും സംഹരിക്കുന്നവൻ.
