Sukta 7.18
दुराध्यो अदितिं स्रेवयन्तोऽचेतसो वि जगृभ्रे परुष्णीम् । मह्नाविव्यक्पृथिवीं पत्यमानः पशुष्कविरशयच्चायमानः ॥
durādhyò adítiṃ srévayanto 'cetaso ví jagṛbhre páruṣṇīm | mahnā́vivyak pṛthivī́ṃ pátyamānaḥ paśúṣ kavír aśayac cā́yamānaḥ ||
ദുരാധ്യ—വശപ്പെടുത്താൻ ദുഷ്കരമായ—അദിതിയെ അവർ ലംഘിക്കുവാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു; അചേതസരായി, യഥാർത്ഥ ബോധമില്ലാതെ, അവർ പരുഷ്ണീ നദിയെ വേർതിരിച്ച് പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. എന്നാൽ അവൻ മഹിമയാൽ ഭൂമിയെ വിശാലമാക്കി അധിപത്യം വഹിച്ചു; പശുവുപോലെ ബന്ധിതനെന്നു തോന്നിയ കവി-ഋഷിയും പിന്തുടരപ്പെടുമ്പോഴും ആക്രമകനെയടക്കി വീഴ്ത്തി.
