Sukta 4.18
उत माता महिषमन्ववेनदमी त्वा जहति पुत्र देवाः । अथाब्रवीद्वृत्रमिन्द्रो हनिष्यन्त्सखे विष्णो वितरं वि क्रमस्व ॥
utá mātā́ mahíṣam ánv avenad amī́ tvā jahati putra devā́ḥ | áthābravīd vṛtrám índro haniṣyán sákhē víṣṇo vitaráṃ ví kramasva ||
മാതാവ് മഹിഷൻ (മഹാൻ)നെ പിന്തുടർന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു: ‘മകനേ, ഈ ദേവന്മാർ നിന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.’ അപ്പോൾ വൃത്രനെ വധിക്കാൻ ഉദ്യതനായ ഇന്ദ്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു: ‘സഖാ വിഷ്ണോ, കൂടുതൽ വിശാലമായി പാദവിക്ഷേപം ചെയ്യുക; പാതയെ വിപുലമാക്കുക.’
