Sukta 2.12
यो जात एव प्रथमो मनस्वान्देवो देवान्क्रतुना पर्यभूषत् । यस्य शुष्माद्रोदसी अभ्यसेतां नृम्णस्य मह्ना स जनास इन्द्रः ॥
yó jātá evá prathamó mánasvān devó devā́n kratúnā paryábhūṣat | yásya śúṣmād ródasī abhyàsetāṃ nṛmṇásya mahnā́ sá janāsa índraḥ ||
ജനിച്ച ഉടനെ തന്നെ ആദ്യനായ—മനസ്വിയും തേജസ്വിയും ആയ ദേവൻ—ക്രതു (സങ്കൽപ-കർമ്മശക്തി) കൊണ്ടു ദേവന്മാരെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റിയവൻ; അവന്റെ ശുഷ്മത്തിൽ ദ്യാവാ-പൃഥിവി വിറച്ചു—നൃമ്ണത്തിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വത്താൽ: ഹേ ജനങ്ങളേ, അവൻ തന്നെയാണ് ഇന്ദ്രൻ.
