इदं श्रेष्ठं ज्योतिषां ज्योतिरुत्तमं विश्वजिद्धनजिदुच्यते बृहत् । विश्वभ्राड्भ्राजो महि सूर्यो दृश उरु पप्रथे सह ओजो अच्युतम् ॥
idáṁ śréṣṭhaṁ jyótiṣāṁ jyótir uttamáṁ viśvajíd dhanajíd ucyate bṛhát | viśvabhrā́ḍ bhrā́jo máhi sū́ryo dṛśé urú paprathé sáha ójo ácyutam ||
ഇത് ജ്യോതികളിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായ ജ്യോതി, പരമപ്രകാശം; ഇതിനെ ‘ബൃഹത്’ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു—വിശ്വജിത്, ധനജിത്, ലോകവും സമ്പത്തും ജയിക്കുന്നവൻ. വിശ്വഭ്രാട്, മഹാഭ്രാജ—ദർശനത്തിനായുള്ള സൂര്യൻ—തന്റെ അച്യുത ഓജസ്സും സഹശക്തിയും വിശാലമായി വ്യാപിപ്പിച്ച് പരന്നു നിൽക്കുന്നു.
