होतारं चित्ररथमध्वरस्य यज्ञस्ययज्ञस्य केतुं रुशन्तम् । प्रत्यर्धिं देवस्यदेवस्य मह्ना श्रिया त्वग्निमतिथिं जनानाम् ॥

hótāraṁ citrá-ratham adhvarásya yajñásya-yajñásya ketúṁ rúśantam | práty ardhiṁ devásya-devásya mahnā śriyā tvám agním atíthiṁ jánānām ||

അധ്വര (യജ്ഞ)ത്തിന്റെ ഹോതൃ, ചിത്രരഥൻ—ദീപ്തരഥവാൻ—എന്നും ഓരോ യജ്ഞത്തിന്റെയും രുശന്ത (പ്രകാശമാന) കേതു (ധ്വജചിഹ്നം) എന്നുമുള്ള അഗ്നിയെ നിങ്ങൾ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നു. ദേവന്റെ മഹിമയും ശ്രിയയും (ഐശ്വര്യ-ശോഭ) കൊണ്ടു, ജനങ്ങളുടെ അതിഥി—സ്വാഗതാർഹ അതിഥി—ആയ അവനെ മുൻപിൽ നിർത്തുന്നു.
