इन्द्रो वृत्रस्य तविषीं निरहन्त्सहसा सहः । महत्तदस्य पौंस्यं वृत्रं जघन्वाँ असृजदर्चन्ननु स्वराज्यम् ॥
índro vṛtrásya táviṣīṃ nír ahan sáhasā sáhaḥ | mahát tád asya páuṃsyaṃ vṛtráṃ jaghánvān asṛ́jad ’rcann ánu sva-rā́jyam ||
ഇന്ദ്രൻ സഹസത്തിന് മേൽ സഹസത്തോടെ വൃത്രന്റെ തവിഷി (പ്രചണ്ഡശക്തി)യെ പുറത്താക്കി. മഹത്തായതു അവന്റെ ആ പൗംസ്യം (പുരുഷാർത്ഥശക്തി): വൃത്രനെ വധിച്ച് തടഞ്ഞുവെച്ചിരുന്ന പ്രവാഹങ്ങളെ മോചിപ്പിച്ചു—സ്വരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ അനുഗമനത്തിൽ ദീപ്തനായി.
