Sukta 1.72

Rishi: Madhucchandā Vaiśvāmitra (traditional assignment for RV 1.72 within the Vaiśvāmitra collection)
Devata: Agni (as inner knower and divine mediator); also the Angirasa/ṛṣi-company as agents of the quest
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (probable for RV 1.72; this verse is in the Triṣṭubh cadence typical of the hymn)

संजानाना उप सीदन्नभिज्ञु पत्नीवन्तो नमस्यं नमस्यन् । रिरिक्वांसस्तन्वः कृण्वत स्वाः सखा सख्युर्निमिषि रक्षमाणाः ॥

saṃ-jānānā́ upa sīdan abhí-jñu patnī́-vanto namasyáṃ namasyan | ririkvā́ṃsas tanváḥ kṛṇvata svā́ḥ sakhā́ sakhyúr nimiṣí rakṣámāṇāḥ ||

ഒരേ ബോധത്തിൽ ഏകീഭവിച്ച് അവർ അഭിജ്ഞൻ—അന്തരംഗജ്ഞാനിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ സമീപം ഇരുന്നു; സഹചാരിണിയായ ശക്തികളാൽ സമ്പന്നരായി, നമസ്കാര്യമായതിനു നമസ്കാരം അർപ്പിച്ചു. നിർദോഷരായി ശുദ്ധരായി, അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ തന്നെ തനുവിനെ സ്വസ്വരൂപത്തിലേക്ക് രൂപപ്പെടുത്തി; നിമിഷം—അന്തരജാഗ്രതയുടെ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ സുഹൃത്ത് സുഹൃത്തിനെ കാക്കുന്നതുപോലെ.
