Sukta 1.32
अहन्वृत्रं वृत्रतरं व्यंसमिन्द्रो वज्रेण महता वधेन । स्कन्धांसीव कुलिशेना विवृक्णाहिः शयत उपपृक्पृथिव्याः ॥
áhan vṛtráṃ vṛtrátaraṃ vyàṃsam índro vájreṇa mahatā́ vadhéna | skándhāṃsīva kúliśenā vívṛkṇā́híḥ śáyata upapṛ́k pṛthivyā́ḥ ||
ഇന്ദ്രൻ മഹാവജ്രത്താൽ, മഹാവധമായ പ്രഹാരത്താൽ, തടസ്സം വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കുന്ന—വൃത്രത്തേക്കാളും കൂടുതൽ വൃത്രസദൃശനായ—വൃത്രനെ സംഹരിച്ചു. കോടാലി കൊണ്ട് തോളുകൾ വെട്ടിപ്പിരിച്ചതു പോലെ, കീറിത്തെറിച്ച സർപ്പം ഭൂമിയോട് താഴ്ന്നു ചേർന്നു കിടന്നു—തടസ്സത്തിന്റെ ശക്തി തകർന്നു വീണു.
