आत्मना वात्मजैश्चान्यैर्वृणेयं मनुजर्षभम्।तेन रामेण कैकेयि शपे ते वचनक्रियाम्।।।।

ātmanā vātmajaiś cānyair vṛṇeyaṁ manujarṣabham | tena rāmeṇa kaikeyi śape te vacanakriyām ||

Translation

എന്നെക്കാളും, എന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെക്കാളും, മറ്റെല്ലാവരെയുംക്കാളും മനുഷ്യശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ രാമനെയാണു ഞാൻ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക. ഹേ കൈകേയീ, ആ രാമനെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി ഞാൻ ശപഥം ചെയ്യുന്നു—നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ ഞാൻ തീർച്ചയായും നിറവേറ്റും.
