अचि॑कित्वांस्चिकि॒तुष॑श्चि॒दत्र॑ क॒वीन् पृ॑च्छामि वि॒द्वनो॒ न वि॒द्वान्। वि यस्त॒स्तम्भ षडि॒मा रजां॑स्य॒जस्य॑ रू॒पे किमपि॑ स्वि॒देक॑म्

ácikित्वāṃś cikítuṣaś cid átra kavī́n pṛcchāmi vidváno ná vidvā́n | ví yás tastámbha ṣáḍ imā́ rájāṃsy ajásya rūpé kím ápi svíd ékam

Unknowing, I question here the seers—even the discerning—one who would know, yet is no knower: Who hath set apart and propped these six regions—in the Unborn’s form—what single thing, pray, is it?

അജ്ഞനായ ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ കവികളായ ഋഷിമാരോട്—വിവേകമുള്ളവരോടുകൂടി—ചോദിക്കുന്നു; അറിയുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ തോന്നുന്നവൻ, എങ്കിലും അറിയുന്നവൻ അല്ല: ആരാണ് ഈ ആറു രജാംസികളെ (വ്യാപ്തികൾ/പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ) വേർതിരിച്ച് തൂണുപോലെ താങ്ങി നിർത്തിയത്—അജ (അജന്മ)ന്റെ രൂപത്തിൽ—ആ ഏകവസ്തു, പറയുക, എന്താണ്?
