Sukta 4

ते कुष्ठि॑काः स॒रमा॑यै कू॒र्मेभ्यो॑ अदधुः श॒फान्। ऊब॑ध्यमस्य की॒टेभ्यः॑ श्वव॒र्तेभ्यो॑ अधारयन्

Sanskrit recitationAtharva Veda 9.4.16

té kuṣṭhikā́ḥ sarámāyai kūrmébhyo adadhuḥ śaphā́n | ū́badhyamásya kīṭébhyaḥ śvavartébhyo adhārayann ||

These Kuṣṭha-men bestowed the hoofs upon Saramā, taken from the tortoises; and from the insects, from the dog-haunting creatures, they held back the ūbadhya’s bane.

ആ കുഷ്ഠികർ ആമകളിൽ നിന്നെടുത്ത കുളമ്പുകൾ സരമയ്ക്കു അർപ്പിച്ചു; കീടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും, ശ്വവർത (നായകൾ ചുറ്റി നടക്കുന്ന) ജീവികളിൽ നിന്നും, ഊബധ്യന്റെ നാശകരമായ ദോഷം അവർ തടഞ്ഞു നിർത്തി.
