अपा॒ङ् प्राङे॑ति स्व॒धया॑ गृभी॒तोऽम॑र्त्यो॒ मर्त्ये॑ना॒ सयो॑निः । ता शश्व॑न्ता विषू॒चीना॑ वि॒यन्ता॒ न्य॑१न्यं चि॒क्युर्न नि चि॑क्युर॒न्यम्

apā́ṅ prā́ṅ eti svadháyā gṛbhītó ’mártyo mártyenā́ sayóniḥ | tā́ śáśvantā viṣūcī́nā viyántā ní ’nyáṃ cikyúr ná ní cikyur anyám ||

Backward and forward he moveth, seized by Svadhā: the Immortal, by the mortal, of one common womb. Those twain, enduring ever, diverging and parting, have known the one the other; yet the other they have not known.

സ്വധാ കൊണ്ടു പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ പിന്നോട്ടും മുന്നോട്ടും സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു—അമർത്ത്യൻ (അമരൻ) മർത്ത്യനാൽ, ഒരേ യോനി/ഗർഭത്തിന്റെ സഹവാസി. ആ ഇരുവരും ശാശ്വതമായി നിലനിൽക്കുന്നവർ; വ്യത്യസ്ത ദിക്കുകളിലേക്കു പിരിഞ്ഞു അകന്നു പോകുമ്പോഴും, ഒരാൾ മറ്റെയാളെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ മറ്റെയാളെ (പൂർണ്ണമായി) അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല.
