ए॒वा म॒हान् बृ॒हद्दि॑वो॒ अथ॒र्वावो॑च॒त् स्वां त॒न्व॑१मिन्द्र॑मे॒व। स्वसा॑रौ मात॒रिभ्व॑री अरि॒प्रे हि॒न्वन्ति॑ चैने॒ शव॑सा व॒र्ध॑य॑न्ति च
evá mahā́n bṛháddívo athárvā́vocat svā́ṃ tanvàm índram evá | svásārau mātaríbhvarī aripré hínvanti cainam śávāsā vardháyanti ca ||
Thus spake Atharvan, great, of lofty heaven, Indra himself in his own proper person. Two Sisters, the Mātaribhvarīs, in the foe-strife impel him, and with might they make him wax yet more.
ഇങ്ങനെ ഉന്നത ദിവ്യലോകത്തിന്റെ മഹാനായ അഥർവൻ വചനം ഉച്ചരിച്ചു: ഇന്ദ്രൻ തന്നേ തന്റെ സ്വദേഹത്തിൽ (സ്വാം തന്വം) പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി. രണ്ട് സഹോദരിമാർ—മാതരിഭ്വരികൾ—ശത്രുസമരത്തിൽ അവനെ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; ശക്തിയാൽ അവനെ ഇനിയും കൂടുതൽ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
