Sukta 125
न॒हि स्थूर्यृ॑तु॒था या॒तमस्ति॒ नोत श्रवो॑ विविदे संग॒मेषु॑ । ग॒व्यन्त॒ इन्द्रं॑ स॒ख्याय॒ विप्रा॑ अश्वा॒यन्तो॒ वृष॑णं वा॒जय॑न्तः
ná hí sthū́ri ṛtúthā yā́tam ásti nót śrávo vivíde saṅgaméṣu | gavyánta índraṃ sakhyā́ya víprā aśvāyánto vṛ́ṣaṇaṃ vājáyantaḥ
For, O Stūri, there is no timely coming so, nor is fame won in the encounters: the inspired, seeking cattle, seek Indra for friendship—seeking horses, the Bull, striving for the prize.
ഹേ സ്റ്റൂരി, അങ്ങനെ ഋതുസമയത്ത് വരിക എന്നത് ഇല്ല; ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലുകളിൽ യശസ്സും നേടപ്പെടുന്നില്ല. പശുക്കളെ തേടുന്ന വിപ്രർ സൗഹൃദത്തിനായി ഇന്ദ്രനെ തേടുന്നു; കുതിരകളെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവർ, വൃഷണനായ (ബലവാൻ) അവനെ—വിജയപുരസ്കാരത്തിനായി പരിശ്രമിക്കുന്നു.
