Soma Pavamāna (with Indra as primary Soma-drinker)

This short Pavamāna hymn urges Soma (Indu) to purify himself through the filter and flow as the intoxicating, insight-giving delight that summons the gods. The verses emphasize Soma’s forward surge beyond the strainer, his being drunk especially by Indra, and the resulting expansion of vision and heroic power for the worshippers’ chant.

Mantra 1
स पवस्व मदाय कं नृचक्षा देववीतये । इन्दविन्द्राय पीतये ॥
इंदु, तुम खुद को साफ करो ताकि खुशी आए। तुम लोगों को देखने वाले हो, भगवान के लिए खुशी लाओ। इंद्र के लिए बहाओ ताकि वो पी सके और उसमें ताकत आए।

स नो अर्षाभि दूत्यं त्वमिन्द्राय तोशसे । देवान्त्सखिभ्य आ वरम् ॥
हमारे लिए पैगाम भेजो। तुम इंद्र को खुश करते हो। भगवान को दोस्त बना के लाओ और जो वरद हमें चाहिए वो पास लाओ।

उत त्वामरुणं वयं गोभिरञ्ज्मो मदाय कम् । वि नो राये दुरो वृधि ॥
तुम लाल चमक रहे हो, हम तुम्हे रोशनी से सजा रहे हैं ताकि खुशी आए। हमारे लिए दौलत के दरवाज़े खोलो ताकि अच्छी चीज़ें अंदर आएँ।

अत्यू पवित्रमक्रमीद्वाजी धुरं न यामनि । इन्दुर्देवेषु पत्यते ॥
यह सोम रस छांता पार कर के निकला है। जैसे तेज़ घोड़ा गाड़ी में जान लगा के आगे बढ़ता है, वैसे ही इन्दु देवता लोगों में मैन बन के चमका। वो सबसे ऊपर आ गया।

समी सखायो अस्वरन्वने क्रीळन्तमत्यविम् । इन्दुं नावा अनूषत ॥
सब साथ मिल के बोलो, इन्दु की जय! वो अंदर के जंगल में खेलता है, सारी माया से पार। जैसे नाव पानी में चले, वैसे ही उसको आगे ले जा रहे हैं।

तया पवस्व धारया यया पीतो विचक्षसे । इन्दो स्तोत्रे सुवीर्यम् ॥
इस धारा से साफ हो के बह। जैसे पीने से आँखें खुल जाती हैं, वैसे ही तू सब देखने लगेगा। इन्दु, गाने में ताकत ला दे।
