Agni in relation to Uṣas; invocation to the Aśvins (Nāsatyā)

This short hymn links the kindling radiance of Agni with the first unveiling of Uṣas (Dawn), portraying the morning as a coordinated epiphany of light, order, and awakened movement. It then turns into a direct invitation to the Aśvins (Nāsatyā) to arrive swiftly at the sacrifice at daybreak and to enjoy the honey-sweet Soma. The purpose is to secure timely divine presence, safe passage (suvitā), and invigorating strength for the worshippers.

प्रत्यग्निरुषसो जातवेदा अख्यद्देवो रोचमाना महोभिः । आ नासत्योरुगाया रथेनेमं यज्ञमुप नो यातमच्छ ॥
अग्नि, जो सबके जनम को जानता है, सुबह के उगाने की तरफ देख रहा है। वो भगवान अपनी ताकत से चमक रहा है। हे नासत्य, तुम दोनों बड़े हो और तुम्हारी गाड़ी बड़ी है। इस यज्ञ के लिए अपनी रथ लेकर आओ, हमारे पास आओ।

ऊर्ध्वं केतुं सविता देवो अश्रेज्ज्योतिर्विश्वस्मै भुवनाय कृण्वन् । आप्रा द्यावापृथिवी अन्तरिक्षं वि सूर्यो रश्मिभिश्चेकितानः ॥
सविता भगवान ने ऊपर निशान उठा दिया है। वो सब दुनिया के लिए रोशनी बना रहा है। आसमान, धरती और बीच की जगह सब भर दी है। सूर्य अपनी किरणों के साथ पूरा फैल रहा है, सब जगह रोशनी कर रहा है।

आवहन्त्यरुणीर्ज्योतिषागान्मही चित्रा रश्मिभिश्चेकिताना । प्रबोधयन्ती सुविताय देव्युषा ईयते सुयुजा रथेन ॥
उषा देवी लाल रोशनी लेकर आ रही है। वो बड़ी है, अलग-अलग रंगों में है, अपनी किरणों से जगमग रही है। वो हमें सुबह सफर के लिए जगा रही है। अपनी अच्छी गाड़ी में आगे बढ़ रही है।

आ वां वहिष्ठा इह ते वहन्तु रथा अश्वास उषसो व्युष्टौ । इमे हि वां मधुपेयाय सोमा अस्मिन्यज्ञे वृषणा मादयेथाम् ॥
तुम्हारी सबसे ताकतवाली गाड़ी और घोड़े सुबह होने पर यहाँ लाओ। यहाँ सोम रस निकाला जा रहा है जो मीठा है। इस यज्ञ में तुम दोनों ताकतवाले हो, इस्से पियो और खुश रहो।
