जङ्गिडः। इन्द्र॑स्य॒ नाम॑ गृ॒ह्णन्त॒ ऋस॑यो जङ्गि॒डं द॑दुः । दे॒वा यं च॒क्रुर्भे॑ष॒जमग्रे॑ विष्कन्ध॒दूष॑णम्
जंगिड़ा नाम की चीज़ है। रिशियों ने इंद्र का नाम लेके इसको दिया। देवताओं ने इसको पहले ही दवा बना दिया था। यह विष्कंध नाम की बुरी चीज़ को खत्म करती है।

स नो॑ रक्षतु जङ्गि॒डो ध॑नपा॒लो धने॑व । दे॒वा यं च॒क्रुर्ब्रा॑ह्म॒णाः प॑रि॒पाण॑मराति॒हम्
जंगिड़ा हमारी रक्षा करे। यह धन की रक्षा करता है, जैसे कोई खज़ाना बचाता है। देवताओं ने इसको बनाया और ब्राह्मणों ने इसको ऐसा बनाया जो दुश्मनी मिटाता है।

दु॒र्हार्दः॒ संघो॑रं॒ चक्षुः॑ पाप॒कृत्वा॑न॒माग॑मम्। तांस्त्वं स॑हस्रचक्षो प्रतीबो॒धेन॑ नाशय परि॒पाणो॑ऽसि जङ्गि॒डः
भगवान जंगिडा, तुम्हारे हज़ारों नज़र हैं। कोई बुरी नज़र आए, कोई बड़ा खतरा हो, वो सब तुम साफ कर दो। तुम जागते रहते हो और हमें बचाते हो। तुम्हारे पास वो ताकत है जो बुराई को मिटा दे।

परि॑ मा दि॒वः परि॑ मा पृथि॒व्याः पर्य॒न्तरि॑क्षा॒त् परि॑ मा वी॒रुद्भ्यः॑ । परि॑ मा भू॒तात् परि॑ मो॒त भव्या॑द् दि॒शोदि॑शो जङ्गि॒डः पा॑त्व॒स्मान्
मुझे आसमान से भी बचा, ज़मीन से भी। हवा से भी, पेड़-पौधों से भी। जानवरों से भी, और जो भी आने वाला है उससे भी। हर तरफ से जंगिडा हमारी रक्षा करे।

य ऋ॒ष्णवो॑ दे॒वकृ॑ता॒ य उ॒तो व॑वृ॒तेऽन्यः । सर्वां॒स्तान् वि॒श्वभे॑षजोऽर॒सां ज॑ङ्गि॒डस्क॑रत्
भगवान ने जो भी बुरी चीज़ें बनाई हैं, या जो और भी निकल आई हैं, जंगिडा उन सब को बेकार कर देता है। यह सबसे अच्छी दवाई है, सब बिमारियों को खत्म कर देता है।

Jāṅgiḍa is treated as a medicinal plant-power and also as an amulet (paripāṇa). The hymn personifies it as a vigilant protector that can be tied on or placed to guard a person or home.
It is aimed at removing hostile influences such as viṣkandha-type affliction and the ‘evil eye’ (harmful gaze/attention). It also functions preventively by building an all-around protective enclosure across realms and directions.
The protection is ‘round about’—from heaven, earth, mid-air, plants, beings, and even what is yet to come—then sealed from every quarter (diśo-diśaḥ). This creates the sense of a complete boundary with no opening for harm.
