Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (amulet-hymn corpus; specific ṛṣi not securely fixed for this verse alone)
Devata: Jāṅgiḍa (personified amulet/plant) as protector; implicitly the quarters and cosmic regions
Chandas: Mixed/Anuṣṭubh-like cadence (late Atharvanic style; not strictly regular)
Ye mantra ek raksha kavach hai jo Jangida ko jagah ke rehta hai. Devta aur rishi log pehle isko use karte the, Indra ki shakti se. Ab ye tumhare ghar ya patient ke charon taraf ek chowkidaar ban jata hai. Aasman, dharti, beech ka space, ped-paudhe sab isme cover ho jate hain. Har disha se, har taraf se suraksha hoti hai. Buri nazar aur dushman taakat tod di jati hai. Ye ek full proof security system ki tarah hai jo tumhe gher leta hai.
Mantra 1
Jangida naam ki cheez hai. Rishiyon ne Indra ka naam leke isko diya. Devataon ne isko pehle hi dawa bana diya tha. Yeh Vishkandha naam ke buri cheez ko khatam karti hai.
Mantra 2
Jangida humari raksha kare. Yeh dhan ki raksha karta hai, jaise koi khazana bachata hai. Devataon ne isko banaya aur brahmanon ne isko aisa banaya jo dushmani mitata hai.
Mantra 3
Bhagwan Jangida, tumhare hazaron nazar hain. Koi buri nazar aaye, koi bada khatra ho, woh sab tum saaf kar do. Tum jagte rehte ho aur hume bachate ho. Tumhare paas woh taakat hai jo buraai ko mita de.
Mantra 4
Mujhe aasmaan se bhi bacha, zameen se bhi. Hawa se bhi, ped-paudhon se bhi. Jaanwaron se bhi, aur jo bhi aane wala hai usse bhi. Har taraf se Jangida humari raksha kare.
Mantra 5
Bhagwan ne jo bhi buri cheezein banaayi hain, ya jo aur bhi nikal aayi hain, Jangida un sab ko bekaar kar deta hai. Yeh sabse acchi dawai hai, sab bimariyon ko khatam kar deta hai.
Jāṅgiḍa is treated as a medicinal plant-power and also as an amulet (paripāṇa). The hymn personifies it as a vigilant protector that can be tied on or placed to guard a person or home.
It is aimed at removing hostile influences such as viṣkandha-type affliction and the ‘evil eye’ (harmful gaze/attention). It also functions preventively by building an all-around protective enclosure across realms and directions.
The protection is ‘round about’—from heaven, earth, mid-air, plants, beings, and even what is yet to come—then sealed from every quarter (diśo-diśaḥ). This creates the sense of a complete boundary with no opening for harm.
