Soma-pavamāna seer tradition (Mandala 9)
Soma Pavamāna (with solar vastness imagery)
Jagatī (probable)
Is mantra mein Soma ki tareef hai jab wo saaf hota hai aur achhi disha mein badhta hai. Soma ko pavitri karte waqt usmein taakat aati hai, kyunki log uske liye special naam use karte hain. Soma itna bada ho jata hai ki sooraj ki tarah fail jata hai. Wo sooraj ki badi rath par sawar hota hai aur aage badhta hai. Phir wo sonay ke bartan mein jata hai aur subah ki roshni ke saath chamakta hai. Aakhiri mein Soma, Indra ko taakat deta hai taaki wo logon ko khushi aur sampatti de sake.
Mantra 1
Soma bhagwan pyari cheezon ki taraf bah rahe hain, khushi ke liye rakhe gaye. Unke naam badhte rehte hain.
Satya ki jeebh bah rahi hai, jaise shahad ki tarah meethi aur pyaari. Yeh soch ka malik hai jo kabhi galti nahi karta, jo is baat ko bolta hai. Putra apne maa-baap ka chupa hua naam aasman ki chamakne wali jagah pe rakh deta hai, jo teesra hai.
Mantra 3
Woh neeche chamakta hai, bartan ki taraf awaaz karta hai. Log use sona ke bartan mein le jaate hain. Satya ka doodh uske liye baja hai. Woh teen stambhon pe baitha hai, aur subah ki roshni mein chamak raha hai.
Mantra 4
Hey Soma, charo taraf phail ja, hamare bhale ke liye. Log tujhe saaf kar rahe hain, tu humein aashirwad de. Teri wo shaktiyan jo raste ke rukawatein hataati hain, unse Indra ko bada dene ke liye bolo.
It praises Soma while he is being purified (pavamāna), describing his shining flow into ritual vessels and his expansion into solar-like vastness, ending with a request for well-being and wealth.
These are the ritual containers for purified Soma. The imagery emphasizes that the offering becomes luminous and powerful as it is clarified and collected for the gods.
In Vedic ritual, Soma’s exhilaration (mada) strengthens Indra. The hymn asks Soma to spur Indra so that Indra grants “magha”—mighty abundance and generosity to the worshippers.
