What the texts say

In the Bhagavata Purana, Vrindavan is a flowering forest, rich in grass for the cows, where Krishna and Balarama bring the cattle. Bhagavatam 10.15.2, 10.11.28 The same Purana tells how Krishna played in the lake of the serpent Kaliya, circling him playfully as the serpent came forward to bite. Bhagavatam 10.16.8, 10.16.25 In the Vishnu Purana, Krishna, encircled by the gopis, the cowherd women, spends an autumn moonlit night eager to begin the Rasa. Vishnu Purana 5.13.23 The Narada Purana says holy Vrindavan is to be visited by seekers longing for liberation, and that nothing in this world equals it. Narada Purana 2.1.80.85, 2.1.80.86
