Durgā Navamī Observance
māsi cāśvayuje śuddhāṃ navamīṃ samupoṣayet | saptamyāṃ kṛtasaṅkalpaḥ sthitvā’ṣṭamyāṃ nirodhanaḥ || 64.2 ||
Varāha (default speaker per dialogue framework)
It preserves a calendrical and procedural template for vrata-practice (vow observance) typical of Purāṇic literature, illustrating how intention (saṅkalpa), preparatory discipline, and the main fasting day are structured across successive tithis.
No specific geographic location is named in this verse; it is primarily temporal (Āśvayuja month; seventh–ninth lunar days) and procedural.
The verse emphasizes disciplined self-regulation: forming a clear intention (saṅkalpa) and practicing restraint (nirodhana) as preparatory ethics supporting the culminating fast.
