Sukta 5.73
इह त्या पुरुभूतमा पुरू दंसांसि बिभ्रता । वरस्या याम्यध्रिगू हुवे तुविष्टमा भुजे ॥
ihá tyā puru-bhū́tamā purū́ daṃsā́ṃsi bíbhratā | varasyā́ yā́my adhrigū́ huvé tuvíṣṭamā bhujé ||
Here I call you, most manifold, bearing many wondrous skills; seeking the best, I go toward you, unhesitating ones; I call you, most mighty, for enjoyment/participation.
The seeker invokes the Aśvins as powers of multiple becoming (purubhūtamā): they can take many forms of help according to need. Their daṃsas (skillful effective powers) are the yogic ‘methods’ of the divine—swift remedies and right interventions. Moving toward the supreme good (varasyā), the aspirant calls these unhesitating forces (adhrigū) to share their might (tuviṣṭamā) as a conscious participation (bhuje): to partake of strength and delight in the transformed life.
True help is adaptive and skillful; when we orient toward the highest good, supportive powers awaken in many forms and we begin to participate in a greater force rather than struggle alone.
Aid and healing, Invocation, Abundance of powers, Inner journey
Ātreya approach often joins aspiration for the ‘best good’ with practical divine assistance; the call is dynamic and life-applicable.
The seer’s movement ‘toward the best’ shows the Vedic psychology of progress: orientation (varasyā) invokes adaptive powers (purubhūtamā) that operationalize transformation (daṃsas).
They distribute timely aid and restore right functioning across the worlds; their ‘many skills’ are the cosmic intelligence of effective means.
They awaken versatile prāṇa and practical intuition—quick, precise interventions that heal and harmonize the system.
Aśvin invocation for aid, healing, and successful undertaking; commonly aligned with dawn rites and preparatory calls.

4×11 (approx.)
Energetic, with compact clauses and strong vocatives; suited to urgent calling and movement.
Stimulates forward motion in sadhana; awakens confidence and prāṇic brightness.
Invocation for Aśvinic assistance and participation in Soma; also resonates with healing/aid motifs typical of Aśvin hymns.
At dawn, before journeys, before healing acts, or at the start of a meditation session needing energetic support.
Recitation as āvāhana and request for sharing of force (bhuje).
Use before challenging tasks: align to the ‘best good’, then call for unhesitating energy and skillful action.
daṃsāṃsi (neut. pl.) from daṃs- ‘marvel, skill, wondrous efficacy’ (often Aśvinic). bibhṛ- from √bhṛ ‘bear’ (PIE *bher-). yāmi from √yā ‘go’ (PIE *h₁ey- ‘go’). huve from √hū ‘call’. bhuj- ‘enjoy, partake, distribute’ (PIE *bʰug- debated; Indo-Iranian well-attested). adhrigū is difficult; traditionally taken as ‘not holding back / not unyoking’; here interpreted as unobstructed swift movement in aid.
Aspiration (yāmi) toward the highest good (varasyā), Distribution/participation (bhuj) as sharing of divine force
Daṃsas are ṛta in action—right result through right means, not random force.
Nā́satyā quality: truth-effective power; the unhesitating movement reflects inner sincerity.
Evolution through adaptive divine assistance—many becomings serving one ascent toward the best.
Yoga of works (karma-yoga archetype) within Vedic sacrifice symbolism—effective divine means responding to aspiration.
Dawn (implied)
Horses = mobilized vital energies; journey = progressive movement of consciousness; dawn = awakening of effective intuition and healing force.
Orient to śreyas (‘varasyā’): choose the highest intention, then invite versatile prāṇic-mental help.
Maṇipūra (effective force) and Svādhiṣṭhāna (adaptive flow)
Kapalabhāti light (30 strokes) × 2 rounds, then calm breathing while chanting once; finish with 2 minutes of stillness to feel ‘daṃsas’ as precise inner adjustments.
Bright, capable, coordinated action-energy with a calm center.
Set a single ‘best good’ intention. Chant with a sense of moving toward it (yāmi). After chanting, ask inwardly: ‘What is the next effective step?’ Allow a simple, unhesitating action-impulse to arise; follow it without strain.
Vedic accents not supplied; keep triṣṭubh drive; emphasize vocatives ‘purubhūtamā’, ‘tuviṣṭamā’.
Slight lift on ‘ihá tyā’ (here you), strong call on the long vocatives, and a decisive cadence on ‘bhúje’.
purubhūtamā: long ū, clear bh, daṃsāṃsi: nasalization; don’t turn into ‘dansansi’, adhrigū: keep ‘dhri’ cluster, long ū, tuviṣṭamā: ṣṭ cluster crisp, bhuje: bh + u, soft j
Bright, spirited, forward-moving; end each pāda cleanly to preserve momentum.
