Viṣṇu
Divine roles are mutually honoring; knowledge and worthiness of worship are affirmed as enduring qualities (sanātana).
Cultivate respect for legitimate spiritual authority; recognize knowledge as a basis for honor rather than mere power.
73.73.40 (Rudra’s request); 73.73.42-44 (boon exchange continues)
It reflects a common Purāṇic dialogic technique: a divine speaker authorizes the status of the interlocutor through formal praise, reinforcing the authority and transmission of knowledge within the narrative frame.
No geographic location is named in this verse; it is focused on personal qualification (omniscience, honor-worthiness) rather than sacred geography.
The verse foregrounds epistemic and social ethics: true knowledge (jñāna) and enduring integrity are presented as grounds for legitimate honor and esteem.
