What the texts say
In the Brahmanda Purana, Lalita is hailed as the Supreme Goddess, four-armed and adorned with the noose, goad, bow and arrows. Brahmanda Purana 3.10.89 Its sacred account of Lalita begins with a salutation to her as the sole Mother of the world. Brahmanda Purana 3.5.1 When the warriors' cries filled the world, Lalita set out to meet the daitya Bhanda, and the quarters shook at the clash of weapon and counter-weapon. Brahmanda Purana 3.29.33, 3.29.56 Brahma and the other gods then praise her as slayer of the great asura Bhanda and as Kameshvari, one of her names. Brahmanda Purana 3.30.11 In another hymn Brahma greets her with victory as Mother of the world. Brahmanda Purana 3.39.22 In the Narada Purana, the Thousand Names of Lalita are declared to bestow success in all aims. Narada Purana 1.3.89.164
