अथर्ववेदस्य दशमं काण्डं सर्वाधिकं तर्कप्रधानं विश्वरचनात्मकं च दृश्यते। तत्र स्तोत्राणि रक्षात्मक-समन्वयकर्मभ्यः प्रवर्त्य पुरुषे राष्ट्रे च विश्वे च ऋतस्य व्यवस्थायाः आधारान् निरन्तरं परिपृच्छन्ति। स्कम्भं (विश्वस्तम्भं) प्रजापतिं च नियामक-तत्त्वे इव निरूप्य, उच्छिष्टस्य (अभिषिक्त-शेषस्य) देवतत्त्वं ‘शेष’ इति यत्, तत् जनकं जगद्धारकं च सामर्थ्यं इति पुनर्व्याख्यायते। एतेषु महार्थेषु अपि आथर्वणः प्रयोगः प्रवर्तते—कृत्याया विषस्य च निष्कासनं, ततः मणिना सौभाग्य-परिसरेण च पुनःस्थिरीकरणं, तथा शान्त्या ऋतस्य पुनःसंयोजनं।
