Agni-stuti used in kindling/establishing the sacrificial fire; adaptable to Agniṣṭoma and general Śrauta agnyādhāna contexts as an invocation of the inner/outer fire (hota).
R̥ta/Dharma as ordered law (vi-dharmaṇi), citi as illumination/gnosis, kratu as conscious will
vi-dharmaṇi points to right order as the matrix in which divine force is born.
citti and jyotiṣ indicate truth-seeing that becomes stable light.
Agni’s birth as a conscious creation by higher powers through intuition.
Vedic yoga of faculties: transformation through alignment of will, knowledge, and ordered practice.
Horse = vital energy harnessed to truth; beam/light = intuition and clarity; fire = executive divine will.
Birth of Agni through alignment: will (kratu) + skill (dakṣa) + right order (vi-dharma).
Dynamic clarity—intuitive perception translating into decisive action.
Before chanting, set a clear resolve (kratu). Recall one practical method (dakṣa). Chant with upright posture; on ‘cittibhiḥ’ pause briefly to ‘receive’ an intuition; on ‘vājam saniṣyan’ feel energy gather and move forward like a steed.
Use śākala accents; lift on kratu/dakṣa terms; keep strong cadence on ‘janayanta’ and ‘upa bruve’.
Triṣṭubh requires clear pāda breaks; keep the ‘drive’ without compressing syllables; emphasize long vowels (bhānunā, jyotiṣā).
kratu: crisp ‘kr’, short a and u., dakṣasya: retroflex ṣ; avoid ‘dakshasya’ with dental s., rurucānam: roll the repeated ru-ru clearly., jyotiṣā: ‘jyo’ as a single syllabic cluster; ṣ retroflex.
Bright, forward, slightly forceful—like a call to action.
