नवकोट्यस्तु चामुण्डा भेदभिन्ना व्यवस्थिताः । या रौद्री तामसी शक्तिः सा चामुण्डा प्रकीर्तिता ॥
navakoṭyastu cāmuṇḍā bhedabhinna vyavasthitāḥ | yā raudrī tāmasī śaktiḥ sā cāmuṇḍā prakīrtitā ||
ചാമുണ്ഡയെ ഒൻപത് കോടികളായി ഭേദഭിന്നമായി ക്രമീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതായി പറയുന്നു. റൗദ്രീയും താമസസ്വഭാവവുമുള്ള ആ ശക്തിയേ ‘ചാമുണ്ഡ’ എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാതമാക്കുന്നു।
