धावतां प्लवतां चैव हा हतोऽस्मीति भाषिणाम्॥ प्राहतानां पुनः शब्दो वध्यतां च सुदारुणः॥
dhāvatāṃ plavatāṃ caiva hā hato 'smīti bhāṣiṇām || prāhatānāṃ punaḥ śabdo vadhyatāṃ ca sudāruṇaḥ
ഓടുകയും നീന്താൻ ശ്രമിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത് ‘ഹാ, ഞാൻ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു!’ എന്നു വിളിച്ചവരിൽ—വീണ്ടും അടിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവരുടെയും വധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവരുടെയും അത്യന്തം ദാരുണമായ ശബ്ദം ഉയർന്നു.
