FAQs

It reflects a common Purāṇic narrative technique in which the stability of a kṣetra (sacred region) is grounded in the presence or agency of a central figure, supporting the text’s broader interest in mapping cultural heritage landscapes.

The verse refers generically to “this kṣetra” (imaṁ kṣetram) without naming a specific site in the provided fragment; identifying a modern location requires the surrounding verses of Adhyāya 17.

The passage emphasizes the idea of stewardship and continuity of a valued place (kṣetra), framing its endurance as dependent on responsible agency rather than as an automatically self-sustaining resource.
