The Efficacy of Circumambulating Annakūṭa
Govardhana
yamasya bhavanaṃ gatvā modate kṛta-niścayaḥ || tatrātha muñcate prāṇān lobha-moha-vivarjitaḥ |||| yama-lokaṃ parityajya mama lokaṃ sa gacchati || tatraiva vāruṇaṃ tīrtham āsādya snānam ācaret

It illustrates Purāṇic eschatological geography—Yama’s realm, Varuṇa-associated waters, and the deity’s ‘own world’—used to articulate moral transformation and ritualized purification.
A “Vāruṇa tīrtha” is mentioned; without further toponyms, it is best treated as a category of water-site associated with Varuṇa rather than a single uniquely identifiable modern location.
The verse foregrounds freedom from greed and delusion as the inner qualification paired with tīrtha-bathing as an outer discipline.
