The Account of Saramā: Indra’s Restoration after Loss of Sovereignty
evam uktās tato devāḥ sannaddhās tatkṣaṇe 'bhavan | asurāṇām abhāvāya jagmur devāḥ savāsavāḥ || 16.34 ||
Varāha (default framework; speaker not explicit in fragment)
It exemplifies a common Purāṇic narrative motif: the swift mobilization of devas under Indra (Vāsava) in response to a prior exhortation, reflecting the genre’s formulaic depiction of cosmic conflict and restoration of order.
No geographic location is named in this verse; it is a transitional action statement describing immediate preparation and departure.
The verse does not state an explicit ethical injunction; implicitly, it frames the restoration of cosmic balance as requiring coordinated readiness and decisive action against destabilizing forces (asuras) within the narrative logic.
