स्रष्टुकामो जगद्योनिस्तमोगुणमधिष्ठाय सूक्ष्मतन्मात्राणि भूतानि स्थूलीकर्तुं सोऽकामयत। सृष्टेः परिमितानि भूतान्येकैकं द्विधा विधाय पुनश्चतुर्धा कृत्वा स्वस्वेतरद्वितीयांशैः पञ्चधा संयोज्य पञ्चीकृतभूतैरनन्तकोटिब्रह्माण्डानि तत्तदण्डोचितगोलकस्थूलशरीराण्यसृजत्॥७॥

sraṣṭukāmo jagadyonis tamoguṇam adhiṣṭhāya sūkṣmatanmātrāṇi bhūtāni sthūlīkartuṃ so’kāmayata | sṛṣṭeḥ parimitāni bhūtāny ekaikaṃ dvidhā vidhāya punaś caturdhā kṛtvā svasvetaradvitīyāṃśaiḥ pañcadhā saṃyojya pañcīkṛtabhūtair anantakoṭibrahmāṇḍāni tattadaṇḍocitagolaksthūlaśarīrāṇy asṛjat ||7||

Translation

സൃഷ്ടിക്കാമനയോടെ ജഗത്തിന്റെ യോനി-സ്വരൂപമായ കാരണമൂലം തമോഗുണത്തെ ആശ്രയിച്ച് സൂക്ഷ്മ തന്മാത്രാഭൂതങ്ങളെ സ്ഥൂലമാക്കുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു. സൃഷ്ടിക്കാലത്ത് പരിമിതമായ ഭൂതങ്ങളെ ഓരോന്നും രണ്ടായി വിഭജിച്ച്, പിന്നെയും നാലായി ചെയ്തു; തുടർന്ന് പരസ്പരത്തിന്റെ ദ്വിതീയാംശങ്ങളുമായി പഞ്ചവിധമായി സംയോജിപ്പിച്ച്, പഞ്ചീകരിതഭൂതങ്ങളാൽ അനന്ത കോടി ബ്രഹ്മാണ്ഡങ്ങളെയും, ഓരോ അണ്ഡത്തിനും യോജ്യമായ ഗോളകങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥിതമായ സ്ഥൂലശരീരങ്ങളെയും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു॥೭॥

Academic Translation

Desiring to create, the womb (source) of the universe, resorting to the guṇa of tamas, wished to make the subtle elements (tanmātras) into gross elements. Having taken the limited (i.e., determinate) elements at creation, he divided each one into two, and again made them into four; then, combining them fivefold with the second portions of one another, he created, by means of the quintuplicated elements, innumerable crores of cosmic eggs (brahmāṇḍas) and the gross bodies situated in the spheres appropriate to each egg.
